• During the September 2026 Board meeting, the Tomball ISD Board of Trustees awarded the construction of the new Tomball Intermediate School to ICI Construction. 

• The new campus is scheduled to open in August 2028.

• Huckabee has completed the design development phase and moved into the construction documents phase of the project.

• During the construction documents phase, all architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life‑safety components are finalized and developed into detailed drawings and written specifications that will be used to price, permit, and construct the facility.

TIS Schematic Design

• Huckabee Architects has completed the programming portion of the design phase and held the first schematic design meeting on October 31, 2025.

• Huckabee Architects was selected by the Board of Trustees in June 2025 to serve as architects for the new Tomball Intermediate campus.

• Tomball ISD is currently working with Huckabee to complete the design phase of the project, with District leadership participating in frequent programming and planning meetings over the last three months.

• During the June 2026 Board meeting, PBK Architects presented the schematic design of the Multi-Program Activity Centers (MPACs). The plans align with the exact size and dimensions shared with voters during the 2025 Bond Election, ensuring the project is being delivered as presented to the community.

• The 80-yard field design was intentionally developed to accommodate site constraints across all three comprehensive high school campuses while ensuring equitable facilities and opportunities for students districtwide. An MPAC will be constructed at each comprehensive high school, featuring an 80-yard turf field plus a 10-yard end zone.

• MPACs will also include a drop-down netting to accommodate multiple student groups, ample storage, two golf simulators, and a fully air-conditioned space.

Multi-Program Activity Center Schematic Design

• PBK has completed the schematic design phase of the Multi-Program Activity Centers project, and moved into design development.

• This phase will refine the conceptual design into detailed plans that integrate structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems as well as final material selections.

• In October 2025, the Tomball ISD Board of Trustees approved the selection of PBK Architects to provide architectural services on the Multi-Program Activity Centers that will be built at each high school campus.

• The official kickoff meeting to begin the design phase will be held on November 12, 2025.

• Site development for the Transportation Center parking lot expansion continues to progress as expected. 

• Tree and vegetation removal has been completed to allow site work to commence on the underground infrastructure.

• In November 2025, the Tomball ISD Board of Trustees approved the purchase of 40 additional school buses. 

• Delivery of those buses was expected to take almost a year to complete. However, the Tomball ISD Transportation department was able to work with our vendor to get those buses delivered over the summer and on the road to start the 2026-2027 school year.

   

• In August 2025, the Tomball ISD Board of Trustees approved the purchase of 52 new school buses and white fleet vehicles.

• As of April 2026, all buses and white fleet vehicles have been received and placed into service.

• In December 2025, the Tomball ISD Board of Trustees approved the purchase of 40 new school buses that will be delivered in 10-12 months.

• This purchase follows an initial order of 24 buses in August 2025 that are expected to be delivered by January-February 2026.

• In August 2025, the Tomball ISD Board of Trustees approved the purchase of the 52 new school buses and white fleet vehicles detailed below:
  • 7 buses for replacement
  • 17 buses for growth
  • 17 white fleet vehicles for the Maintenance Department
  • 11 white fleet vehicles for the Custodial Department

• White fleet vehicles are already being delivered and outfitted with District equipment. All buses have been ordered with expected delivery by January-February 2026.

• Bond 2025 seeks to enhance the library space at existing elementary campuses that were built prior to 2021, so that they are aligned more closely with the standards that have been established with the opening of Grand Oaks Elementary and West Elementary.

• Enhancements will include new flooring, paint, graphics, furniture, and STEM lab equipment.

• Serving as a pilot campus, the Canyon Pointe Elementary library was the first library refresh scheduled and completed during the Summer and Fall 2026.

• Refresh projects may include updates to libraries, gymnasiums, front offices, and cafeterias, and will create bright, inviting spaces that support learning, collaboration, and daily campus life.

• Construction activities will continue throughout the early weeks of the school year, with work carefully coordinated to minimize disruptions to teaching and learning.

• These campus refresh projects introduce consistent branding, colors, and design elements throughout Tomball ISD, creating a cohesive experience for students, staff, and visitors while celebrating the district's identity.

• In October 2025, the Tomball ISD Board of Trustees approved the purchase of student and staff technology devices.

  • This initial purchase of student devices will refresh/replace computers in use at the THS and TMHS computer labs.

  • Phase 1 of the staff laptop replacements will replace laptops for all professional staff at Decker Prairie Elementary, Tomball Elementary, Tomball Junior High, and Tomball Star Academy.

• Phase 1 of installation of the district-wide radio communication system is complete. The system installation at the Tomball Event Center will provide reach to the West Complex, the Elmer & Beckendorf Educational Complex, and all bus transportation radios.

• Phase 2 will include infrastructure upgrades for Tomball High School, Tomball Memorial High School, and Creekside Park.

• The radio communication system project is intended to strengthen both daily communication and emergency response efforts.

• This project will include the replacement of existing chillers, water pumps, and infrastructure to ensure proper system performance and reliability.

• No new infrastructure projects were approved by the Tomball ISD Board of Trustees in April, but a number of previously approved projects have been completed or are nearing completion including:

• In March 2026, the Tomball ISD Board of Trustees approved projects for the initial replacement of network switching equipment and network cabling at existing campuses to address devices that have reached end of life and increase campus connectivity.

• In February 2026, the Tomball ISD Board of Trustees approved DBR Engineering Consultants to provide professional services for Chiller Repair & Replacement Package #1. This project will address aging HVAC equipment at the following facilities:

• In November 2025, the Tomball ISD Board of Trustees approved the purchase of fire panel replacements in order to upgrade existing fire alarm control systems for 8 facilities district-wide. This project will address the following facilities:

• In November 2025, Tomball ISD initiated the purchase and scheduling of smoke detector replacements at Tomball Intermediate, Creekside Park Junior High, and Wildwood Elementary. This project will replace devices that have reached end of life and will address additional campuses in future phases.

  • Concrete work for the new chiller and demo of two outside air units has been started.

• In June 2025 the Tomball ISD Board of Trustees approved the purchase of three temporary instructional buildings already in service at Rosehill Elementary School. Taking ownership of the temporary buildings will reduce rental costs and ensure that TISD has sufficient instructional space for projected growth.

• In August 2025, the Tomball ISD Board of Trustees approved Hunton Services to perform replacements and rebuilds for HVAC equipment at TJHS & the THS Field House. At this time work is being scheduled and coordinated to minimize impacts to daily operations.

• In August 2025, the Tomball ISD Board of Trustees approved Automated Logic to update the HVAC building automation system at the THS Field House. Updates to the automation system will be completed alongside the replacement and rebuild of equipment.

• In August 2025, the Tomball ISD Board of Trustees approved the purchase of high volume low speed fan replacements at the TMHS agricultural barn, THS agricultural barn and TIC warehouse. At this time the equipment order has been placed.

• At the June 2026 Board meeting, the Board of Trustees re-approved the purchase of replacement bleachers at Tomball High School after moving on from the previously awarded vendor.

• Due to the delays with the original vendor, product availability, and impact to campus activities, the bleacher replacement project will be completed during the Summer of 2027.

• During the January 2026 Board meeting, the Board of Trustees approved the purchase and replacement of bleachers for the competition and auxiliary gyms at Tomball High School.

• The new bleachers are a step toward bringing Tomball High into alignment with the facilities at Tomball Memorial and Tomball West High School.

• The Tomball West High School agricultural project barn opened to students and animals in September 2026. 

• The project barn will provide students with a modern, on-campus facility to support agricultural science instruction, FFA participation, and livestock project development while offering hands-on experiences in animal care, agricultural leadership, and career preparation.

• The facility will also provide safe, secure, and appropriately designed housing for student project animals.

• As of July 29, final wrap up is underway for both facilities as the contractors work through punch list items prior to the start of school.

 

• Construction of Tomball West High School continues to progress as planned and remains on schedule for the start of the 2026–2027 school year.

• An official ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for July 27 at 9 AM, giving the community an opportunity to celebrate the opening of Tomball ISD’s newest high school before students arrive in August.

• The concrete paving and curbs for the intersection at Mueschke Road and Destination Drive have been completed and are awaiting approval by Harris County.

• While Destination Drive will serve as the main entrance to Tomball West High School, the entrances will be used for construction traffic only until the campus is opened in August 2026. Access for thru-traffic to West Elementary and West Intermediate will not be available.

• The main entrance to Tomball West High School will be located off of Mueschke Road. At this time construction is in progress to add a turning lane and traffic light for the use of Tomball West High School.
