Community engagement has become a part of Dennis Wilkins’ daily life.

His contributions to his hometown of Tomball and his desired commitment to help improve the experience others have when visiting Tomball have been enlightening and a great benefit to this community.

Serving professionally as the Vice President and Account Manager for W&W Technologies, a family-owned business located in the Tomball area, Wilkins is a proud Tomball High School graduate from the Class of 1992.In 1978, his family moved from Magnolia to Tomball, and since then - he has called this town his home.

During his grade school years, Wilkins attended the old school on Cherry Street, a few years at Tomball Elementary before finishing up fourth through sixth grade at Decker Prairie Elementary. He went on to attend Beckendorf Junior High, a ninth grade campus on Main Street, and his final three years as a THS Cougar.

While in high school, Wilkins described himself as the quiet kid.

“I was the kid in the corner at school but was very involved in Drafting my entire time at THS. My interests were drawing and art,” Wilkins said. After his time at THS, Wilkins attended some classes at Lone Star College before transferring to Sam Houston State for some time. While he was attending college, he began working part-time for the family business.

“While at Sam Houston, I realized that the part time work was rewarding and had the potential to make me happy in life doing the tech things that I liked,” Wilkins recalls. “Technology was changing fast back in the mid 90s and I saw I had a knack for understanding it, so I went full-time and still love learning new technology.”

W&W Technologies has been a member of the Tomball Greater Area Chamber of Commerce since the mid-80s, but Wilkins personal involvement with the organization really kicked off in 2016.

For Wilkins, initially becoming involved with the Tomball Chamber was sparked by a favor for a friend but it wasn’t until he really became immersed in community events that he realized how special his hometown really was.“Initially, I became involved because it got me out of the house and off the computer,” he said. “As I got to know more people in Tomball and the good things that happen in this town, you never want to step away.”

Wilkins not only is involved in the Chamber through the family business, but as a volunteer. He serves the community as the 2024-2025 Tomball Rotary Club President, and as through his involvement, he helps ensure the organization’s effort of supporting local charities and student scholarships.

“As a Rotarian, our motto is ‘Service above Self’, and the great people we have living in this town make it really easy to want to be around doing things to give back to the community,” Wilkins said.Wilkins is also a board member for the Tomball Farmers Market, which advocates for local farmers and local small businesses. He also gives back as a volunteer with the Tomball German Festival since 2016, serving as a block captain and helping set up and take down the festival.

“Assisting with the German Festivals and Tomball Night, I get to speak to people that come from out of town and I love hearing their feedback on how our small town is doing big things,” he said.

For his incredible investment in Tomball and being an avid volunteer, Wilkins has been rewarded over the years. In 2020, Wilkins was named the Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce (GTACC) Ambassador of the Year, and the 2023 Volunteer of the Year.

“Tomball has always been special to me,” he said. “Growing up here was so much fun. The community is always involved, and it has been great to see that even with the growth.”

Wilkins has been married to wife and local postal worker Theresa for 24 years. The couple has one son, Briton, a 2023 Tomball High School graduate, and now a United States Marine.
