A known leadership theorist, Tom Peters, stated, “Leaders don’t create followers, they create more leaders.” When I first read this quote in a study through my doctoral program, I immediately connected to the message; however, it wasn't until later that I felt the true impact. Over the years as a leader, this has continued to resonate with me, and today I would say that this message is the foundation of my leadership style.
I have the distinct honor of serving as the Chief Academic Officer of Tomball ISD where I am able to serve the students, staff, and families of my community. Prior to serving in this role, I was afforded the experience of Executive Director of Secondary Schools, junior high principal, high school associate principal, and junior high assistant principal. At the heart of this, I was a teacher in English/Language Arts classrooms serving grades 6-12. In each of these roles, I was honored to work alongside talented individuals who helped shape and guide me and I hope in turn that I am able to pay that forward today.
I received my B.A. in English at Texas A&M University followed by a M.Ed. in Instructional Technology from Texas A&M University. I was able to extend my education by earning my Doctorate of Education from Sam Houston State University in Educational Leadership.
Tomball ISD is an outstanding community that I am lucky to raise my family within. I am the wife of a firefighter and a mother to two wonderful girls who attend Tomball ISD schools. I value the people and each individual of this district and am proud of the community in which we live and learn. It is with great enthusiasm that we get to call Tomball ISD which is not only a district, but a destination our home!
