I am blessed and grateful to be engaged in the work with students, teachers, administrators, and other staff as the Elementary ELAR Content Specialist for the Tomball ISD Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment Department. This 2018-2019 school year finds me in my seventh year in this role.  Each year brings a progression of moving forward in this exciting, always evolving new era of learning in the 21st Century. I am honored to be a part of a district that craves both professional and personal growth for ALL.

Prior to my current position, I taught at the campus level grades 1 – 6 for 20+ years.  Throughout those years I held positions that included Reading Specialist, Gifted and Talented Specialist, Language Arts Teacher, Language Arts/Social Studies Teacher, and self-contained (all subjects).  I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education & Psychology from Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, NY; and completed my Master of Education in Reading at Sam Houston State University. My Texas certifications include Principal K-12, Reading Specialist K-12, English as a Second Language, Gifted and Talented, and Self-Contained 1-8.  I continue to find growth opportunities through coursework, reading and studying professional texts, collaborating with other learners, researching, and an array of other means.  Through these growth opportunities, I have had the pleasure of presenting at the district, local, and state levels.

I am passionate about working with teams to best meet the needs of all students in a comprehensive balanced literacy classroom. Therefore, one of my main priorities is to encourage, support, and trust teachers to embrace the practice of dynamic engagement and investment in their own learning, both professionally and personally resulting in the successful impact that will have on their students.
