Dr. Ashley Schlafly » Home

My name is Dr. Ashley L. Schlafly, and I am proud to serve as Director of Secondary ELA and Advanced Academics. I have the pleasure of working with both the secondary ELA department and its incredible teachers grades 7-12, as well as with the entire Advanced Academics team that encompasses our Gifted and Talented, Advanced Placement and Dual Credit teachers and staff.
I am honored to be a part of the Tomball ISD family, and I am ready to conquer all our 2021-2022 school year sends our way!
About Me
I am a graduate of the University of Houston with a doctorate in curriculum and instruction, with a literacy focus, and the University of Southern Mississippi with a Master's of Arts in Political Theory. I began teaching in 2007, and, over the years, I have taught English Language Arts and Reading to grades 6-12. Upon moving to Houston in 2013, I served as the Education and Family Services Director for Habitat for Humanity Northwest Harris County helping to build our program, Habitat University, for both homeowners and their families. In 2017, I began working at the University of Houston as an instructional coach, specializing in literacy in school districts both within Texas and Mississippi, while also serving as an instructor in one of the University's Ed.D. programs. I joined Tomball ISD in 2020, and I am so excited to be a part of a district that prioritizes learning, students and their teachers! My husband and I look forward to continuing to build a community here that includes our two children, Finnegan (5 years old) and Eliana (3 years old). We are excited to say that our eldest, Finnegan, will attend school in Tomball beginning this fall!
