Tomball Education Foundation Represented at Convocation

TOMBALL - With the 2018-19 school year right around the corner, Tomball ISD welcomed back over 2,000 employees at its annual Convocation this week.

The district held the annual event at the Champion Forest Baptist Church and along with excitement and energy from teachers and staff through campus roll call and recognitions, Tomball ISD was reintroduced to the Tomball Education Foundation.

The Tomball Education Foundation, founded in 2017, is an independent, non-profit corporation established by parents, local businesses, civic organizations, alumni and community leaders to make a positive impact on public education. The Foundation is governed by a board of directors who represent a cross-section of the community and have a sincere interest in the Tomball Independent School District's students and their success.

“TEF is a group of volunteers who care about the success of students in the Tomball area and want to help. TEF was established to fill in where traditional funding is short.  Every year it seems like the schools receive less funding to educate our students. We know school employees are there on the front lines and know what programs and projects are available. They just need the funds to make them happen,” Julie Ewers, TEF President said.

Along with its community and civic contributions, its mission is to develop and allocate resources to enrich, enhance, and maximize the quality of education for all students.

The Tomball Education Foundation provides funds for educational projects and activities that are beyond traditional funding. Funds are used to facilitate student achievement and skill development, recognize and encourage staff excellence, and expand community involvement from individuals, businesses and civic organizations.

After one year, the Tomball Education Foundation hit the ground running and has already been well-received in the Tomball community.

“We are excited to almost reach the $100k mark this early. It shows that the community wants to be involved in TISD,” Ewers said. “We really need this number to grow, hopefully double, before the end of the year.”

If you are a community member, parent, alumni, business leader, former Tomball ISD employee or a volunteer in the district, Tomball Education Foundation offers a way to give back and support Destination Excellence and directly impact the educators in our district.
