Dr. Michael Webb Named New Chief Academic Officer

He assumes this new role with Dr. Amy Schindewolf being named the new Chief of Staff and School Leadership.

Dr. Webb is a leader who understands the importance of communication, collaboration and has continued to pursue excellence for all with a passion for supporting the needs of all students.

As Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Webb will now oversee Academics, Special Education/504, Counseling & SEL, Professional Development and Career and Technical Education (CTE).

Dr. Webb joined Tomball ISD in 2017 as Assistant Superintendent of Student Support. As the leader of this department, he oversaw and implemented a full range of district-wide interventions, behavioral health supports, Section 504, Guidance and Counseling Department and Special Education Department. 

Over the past six years, Dr. Webb has served as a Principal Author in securing nearly 2.5 million dollars in grant money to support student achievement and school success. These grants were secured through the Tomball Health Foundation, Texas Education Agency, the Center for Behavioral Health and the Simmons Foundation. 

Prior to joining Tomball ISD, Dr. Webb was the Director of Social and Emotional Learning (2016-2017) and the Senior Manager (2010-2016) in Houston ISD. 

From 2007 to 2010, Dr. Webb spent time as an Education Specialist at Region 4 Education Service Center, where he provided direct consultation, professional development and technical assistance to school districts statewide in areas of best practices, data analysis and response to intervention systems. 

Dr. Webb’s educational experience extends from district administration to classroom support as he began his career as a Special Education Teacher in Aldine ISD (1999-2002) before transitioning into the role of Diagnostician (2002-2007).  

Dr. Webb is a graduate of Leadership North Houston, Class of XXIV in 2018-2019. He currently serves as a Board Member on the Texas Council of Administrators in Special Education and an Advisory Board Member for the Center of Inclusive Technology & Education Systems.  He also maintains an appointment as an adjunct professor at Sam Houston State University in the College of Education (2008 - 2021).  

His leadership extends well beyond Tomball ISD, having contributed to education on a national level by making 18 presentations to colleagues at conventions from 2008 to 2020, ranging from topics of Mental Health, Disproportionality, Wrap-Around Supports to Building Inclusive Schools. 

Dr. Webb is a graduate of Texas A&M-Kingsville where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, his Master’s degree in Special Education from Sam Houston State University and his Doctoral degree in Educational Psychology and Individual Differences from the University of Houston. 

Dr. Webb rounds out Dr. Salazar-Zamora’s Cabinet and will work alongside Chief of Staff and School Leadership Dr. Amy Schindewolf, Chief Financial Officer Mr. Jim Ross and Chief Operating Officer Dr. Steven Gutierrez.
