TOMBALL - Tomball ISD has named Dr. Mike Metz its Secondary Principal of the Year for the 2020-2021 school year.
Metz has dedicated over 17 years to education as an administrator, coach and teacher. He has spent twelve years in Tomball ISD and the last two years serving the students at Tomball Memorial High as its campus Principal.
"I am so very humbled to be named the Secondary Principal of the Year,” Metz said. “But to me, this is a celebration of the entire campus of TMHS. Our teaching staff is passionate about inspiring students to achieve beyond their potential, our front office staff believes their positions are critical in supporting the campus vision, and the admin team has gone above and beyond to champion teachers and students. It is their hard work that makes Tomball Memorial the premier high school in the state of Texas, and I am lucky to serve as the principal.”
Metz brings many years of experience as an administrator, coach and classroom teacher at the secondary level, having spent time in Spring, Tomball, and Magnolia before returning to Tomball ISD in 2019 as the Principal at Tomball Memorial High School.
“Dr. Metz is a charismatic principal who leads with heart,” Dr. Mindy Muñoz, Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Schools said. “He has a way to motivate and energize those around him and always leads with positivity. Dr. Metz is a leader who models his expectations every day and builds a community of learners at TMHS.”
When asked about the Tomball Memorial culture, Metz responded, “We believe how you do anything is how you do everything. I love how our campus is committed to learning, growing, and never settling with the success of the past. Everywhere I look, I see the expectation of excellence, and this is woven into the fabric of our culture. I’m very fortunate to have landed at TMHS, and continue to learn from some of the most dedicated staff, and be inspired by our extraordinarily talented students. GO CATS GO!”
