Information for Candidates for School Trustee

Tuesday, November 3, 2026
 

To be eligible to run for the position of trustee of the Tomball Independent School District, the candidate must meet the following qualifications:
 
1. A United States citizen;
2. At least Eighteen (18) years of age;
3. A qualified registered voter in the District;
4. A resident of the district for six (6) months and a resident of the state for twelve (12) months before the filing deadline;
5. Have not been determined mentally incompetent by a final judgement of a court;
6. Have not been finally convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities;
7. A person is not eligible to serve as a trustee if the person is required to register as a sex offender under Chapter 62, Code of Criminal Procedure.
8. Satisfy any other eligibility requirements prescribed by law for the office.
 
The candidate must retain these qualifications while in office. The interested person must file an application to have his/her name placed on the ballot with the Executive Assistant of the School Board no later than the seventy-eighth (78th) day prior to the election (August 17). These forms will be available on the Tomball ISD website and in the District's Administration Building. The completed applications can be mailed or delivered to the attention of Linda Stoll or Angie Waller at Tomball ISD, 310 S. Cherry St, Tomball, Texas 77375. Notarized applications will be accepted by email at: elections@tomballisd.net; and by fax at: 281-357-3128. The first day to file for a place on the ballot is Saturday, July 18, 2026.  Applications must be notarized and the Executive Assistant is a notary public.  The filing deadline is 5:00 PM, Monday, August 17, 2026.  Please note that applications filed in person will be accepted during the District's business hours as follows: July 20-31: Monday through Thursday from 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM; August 3-17: Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Positions with four-year terms expiring are:

    Position No. 3    Four-year term (Full Term)    Presently held by John McStravick

Persons must run for a specific position. Ballot position will be drawn on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at 5:00 PM at the Tomball ISD Administration Building, Board Room, 310 S. Cherry Street, Tomball. If you are not present at the time of the drawing a ballot position will be drawn for you.
