PEIMS and Information Services

The Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) is a data collection system developed by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to submit district data to the state on a scheduled basis. PEIMS encompasses all data requested and received by TEA about public education, including:
- Organizational
- Budget
- Actual Financial
- Staff
- Student Demographics
- Program Participation
- School Leaver
- Student Attendance
- Course Completion
- Discipline
The PEIMS group in Tomball ISD is responsible for submitting all the district data required by TEA to enable them to evaluate our school district and campuses. The information submitted determines state funding, as well as compliance and accountability in many programs.
📈 PEIMS Submissions Overview
PEIMS data is collected four times each school year to meet state and federal reporting requirements. Each submission focuses on different data sets:
-
Submission 1 – Fall Snapshot
Includes student enrollment, leaver records, and staff data as of the official snapshot date. -
Submission 2 – Mid-Year
Reports prior-year financial actual data for the district. -
Submission 3 – Summer
Captures full-year data including attendance, discipline, and course completion records. -
Submission 4 – Extended Year
Submitted if applicable, this collection includes data for summer school programs and extended year services.
📊 TSDS Core Collections Overview
The following Core Collections support state and federal compliance, program evaluation, and public reporting:
-
Child Find
Combines data from SPPI-11 (Timely Initial Evaluation) and SPPI-12 (Early Childhood Transition) to monitor IDEA compliance. LEAs report students evaluated between July 1–June 30. -
Class Roster – Winter Submission
Collects teacher-student assignment data used for the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) and HB 4545 student-teacher alignment. -
Early Childhood Data System (ECDS)
Captures pre-K and kindergarten student, staff, classroom, and assessment data to inform early childhood program quality. Vendors submit assessments directly to TEA; LEAs submit local data to TSDS. -
Residential Facility Tracker (RFT)
Tracks students with disabilities residing in residential care facilities within LEA boundaries. Supports monitoring and program effectiveness for this vulnerable population. -
Special Education Language Acquisition (SELA)
Monitors language acquisition in students age 0–8 who are deaf, hard of hearing, or deaf-blind. Required annually under TEC §29.316 and HB 548. -
SPPI-14 – Post-School Outcomes
Collects follow-up data on students with disabilities who exited grades 9–12. Supports program evaluation through a post-school outcomes survey.
