Public Education Information Management System

PEIMS is the state data collection system used by the Texas Education Agency to collect required district data throughout the school year.

What is PEIMS?

The Public Education Information Management System, known as PEIMS, is a data collection system developed by the Texas Education Agency. It collects district information on a scheduled basis and supports state reporting, federal reporting, compliance, accountability, and funding.

Why PEIMS matters PEIMS data helps determine state funding, program compliance, public reporting, and accountability outcomes for Tomball ISD schools.

PEIMS Submissions Overview

PEIMS data is collected throughout the school year. Each submission focuses on specific data sets and reporting requirements.

Submission 1

Fall Snapshot

Includes student enrollment, leaver records, and staff data as of the official snapshot date.

Submission 2

Mid-Year

Reports prior-year financial actual data for the district.

Submission 3

Summer

Captures full-year data, including attendance, discipline, and course completion records.

Submission 4

Extended Year

Includes applicable summer school program data and extended year services.

Attendance Reporting

PEIMS Six Weeks Attendance Submissions

The PEIMS Six Weeks Attendance Submissions capture attendance data after each reporting period. These submissions support Foundation School Program payment adjustments and ongoing attendance funding review. LEAs report basic attendance, flexible attendance, bilingual and ESL attendance, CTE contact hours, special education attendance, and other attendance-related funding data.

TSDS Core Collections Overview

TSDS Core Collections support state and federal compliance, program evaluation, and public reporting.

Special Education Data System, Summer

The SPEDS Summer Collection captures required special education data for State Performance Plan Indicators. It supports federal IDEA reporting and statewide special education program evaluation.

Class Roster: Winter Submission

The Class Roster Winter Submission collects teacher, student, course, section, and roster assignment data. This collection supports the Teacher Incentive Allotment, student-teacher linkage, instructional reporting, and state program evaluation.

Early Childhood Data System

The ECDS Kindergarten and Prekindergarten Collections capture student, staff, classroom, program, and assessment data for early childhood reporting. These collections support early childhood program quality reporting, prekindergarten program monitoring, and kindergarten readiness review.

Residential Facility Tracker

The Residential Facility Tracker Collection tracks students with disabilities who reside in residential care facilities located within LEA boundaries. This collection supports special education monitoring, residential placement review, and program effectiveness.

Special Education Language Acquisition

The Special Education Language Acquisition Collection monitors language acquisition for students ages 0 through 8 who are deaf, hard of hearing, or deaf-blind. This collection supports early language development monitoring and statewide special education reporting.

SPPI-14: Post-School Outcomes

The SPPI-14 Collection gathers follow-up data for students with disabilities who exited grades 9 through 12. LEAs use post-school outcome survey data to support federal IDEA reporting and program evaluation.

Teacher Vacancy Collection

The Teacher Vacancy Collection captures vacant teaching positions for the reporting year. This collection supports statewide workforce reporting and teacher staffing analysis.

UID Enrollment Event

The UID Enrollment Event file supports student enrollment and withdrawal tracking. LEAs submit enrollment event records at the beginning of the school year and continue submitting updates when enrollment or withdrawal activity occurs.

Civil Rights Data Collection

Federal Reporting and Compliance

The Civil Rights Data Collection, CRDC, is a national data collection led by the Office for Civil Rights, OCR. Since 1968, CRDC has collected data from public schools and districts on student enrollment, access to programs, school staff, and school climate areas such as discipline, bullying, and harassment.

CRDC is collected every two years and supports federal civil rights monitoring, public reporting, and required compliance review.

Tomball ISD Reporting Responsibility At Tomball ISD, the PEIMS Team gathers, reviews, and submits CRDC data to support accurate federal reporting and compliance with state and federal requirements.

TEA County District Number

County District Numbers

What is a County District Number, or CDN?

A County District Number, also called a CDN, identifies a Texas school district or campus.

The CDN is used in state and federal reporting. Families, community members, and staff also use it to look up public district or campus information through Texas Education Agency resources.

County Number

The first three numbers identify the county where the school district is primarily located. Tomball ISD is primarily located in Harris County.

101-XXX-XXX

District Number

The middle three numbers identify the school district. Tomball ISD’s district number is 921.

XXX-921-XXX

Campus Number

The last three numbers identify the individual campus. For example, Tomball High School is campus 001.

Tomball ISD CDN Prefix Tomball ISD begins with 101-921. Add the three-digit campus number to complete the campus CDN.

The Tomball ISD PEIMS Team supports the district mission by ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant data reporting for students, staff, campuses, programs, finance, and accountability. Through clear procedures, training, communication, and data review, we help protect district funding, support informed decision-making, strengthen compliance, and serve campuses as they provide meaningful educational experiences for all students.

    Monitor TEA, TSDS, ESC, and vendor reporting requirements to ensure Tomball ISD meets state and federal deadlines with complete and accurate submissions.

    Maintain open communication with campuses, departments, leadership, ESC staff, TEA, and vendors to share updates, resolve issues, and support district operations.
