Federal Programs

Title I, Part A - Improving Basic Programs 
Focused on improving the academic achievement of low-achieving students in schools with high concentrations of children from low-income families and is governed by statutory and regulatory requirements of Title I, Part A program.  The Title I, Part A program is the largest program mandated by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) supported by the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. 

 

Campus Eligibility:

35% Title I program
35%-39% Targeted Assistance
40%-100% Schoolwide

Use of Funds: Title I funding is designated toward schools with an enrollment of at least 35% economically disadvantaged. 

 

Title II, Part A - Supporting Effective Instruction
Title II funds are used to elevate teacher and principal quality through recruitment, hiring, and retention strategies and to increase the number of highly qualified teachers in the classroom and highly qualified principals and assistant principals in schools.

Use of Funds: Title II funding is designated toward districtwide professional development.

Title III, Part A - English Language Acquisition (ELA)
Aims to ensure that English learners (El) and immigrant students attain English proficiency and develop high levels of academic achievement in English.

 

Eligibility: All students identified as (LEP) Limited English Proficient based on an oral language proficiency test

Use of Funds: Title III funding is designated toward resources for English Learners districtwide.

Title IV, Part A - Student Support and Academic Enrichment
Intended to improve students' academic achievement by increasing the capacity of campuses and school districts and local communities to:

- Provide all students with access to a well-rounded education;

- Improve school conditions for student learning; and

- Improve the use of technology in order to improve the academic achievement and digital literacy of all students. 

Use of Funds: Title IV funding is designated toward districtwide resources.
