THS Freshman Emilio Fuentes Wins Regional Spanish Spelling Bee for Second Straight Year
Emilio Fuentes

TOMBALL - For the second straight year, Emilio Fuentes, now a Tomball High School freshman, captured a first place finish at the Region 20 Spanish Spelling Bee in the 9-12 grade division.

This year, Fuentes was declared the Regional winner after successfully completing 15 rounds and spelling the winning word “majestuosidad” correctly. Fuentes’ spelling bee run will end due to the National Spanish Spelling Bee only accepting students through the eighth grade.

Fuentes did not compete in the Tomball ISD Spanish Spelling Bee as it is also limited to eighth grade, however Fuentes was still able to participate in the Region 20 Spanish Spelling Bee after winning one year ago. Fuentes went on to win the National Spanish Spelling Bee.
