JOHN LEZAMA
Tomball High School
Valedictorian

What has been the best part about attending Tomball High School?
“I think the best part was that it pushed me to socialize and become friends with people who I likely would have never interacted with, and that has allowed me to really develop my people skills and get along with a wide variety of people.”

What are your plans after you graduate from Tomball High School?
“I will be majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering at UT Austin. I’m excited to dive deep into research and personal projects and hopefully I’ll end up doing something impactful with what I learn.”

What will you miss the most about Tomball High School?
“Without a doubt the times I’d laugh with my friends all throughout the day. Certain classes and people will always hold a special place in my memory.”

What have you learned from your high school experience that you will take with you?
“I believe I’ve learned, to some extent, what it takes to be successful in a competitive environment, along with the importance of balancing hard work with personal well-being. I’m still figuring it out, and I hope to learn even more about myself during college.”

Who would you like to thank?
“I’d like to thank all the teachers who have challenged me to become a better person these past four years. I want to thank all my friends, especially my og group: Aayan, Shaurya, Arav, Eshan, Sidd, and Brian. I want to thank my girlfriend SiSi. Most of all, I want to thank my family, who would be proud of me regardless of my future plans or past accomplishments.”

What has been the best part about attending Tomball High School?
“The best part about attending Tomball High School has been the friends that I have made over the past four years.  (I don't want to name any names - but they know!)  Seeing these guys at school has always been the highlight of my day.”

What are your plans after you graduate from Tomball High School?
“After I graduate from high school, I plan on studying engineering at Texas A&M University in College Station. I'm really excited about becoming an Aggie!”

What will you miss the most about Tomball High School?
“I will miss my friends, some great teachers, and the small class sizes.  Fortunately, I'll take a lot of nice memories with me.”

What have you learned from your high school experience that you will take with you?
“My high school experience has taught me many life lessons that I plan to take with me.  I've learned to choose quality friends, manage my time, and put my full effort into everything I do.”

Who would you like to thank?
“As you might expect, there are a lot of people I could thank. Over the years, countless individuals have helped me in different ways. But today, I want to focus on just one person. Many of you know my younger brother, Matt Dixon—he’s a junior here at THS. What you might not realize, though, is that he’s been one of the driving forces behind my success. Matt always listens to my crazy ideas, gives honest advice, and pushes me to be a better person. He’s not a quitter—and because of him, neither am I. So thank you, Matt, for not only being an awesome brother, but also my best friend.

I’d also like to congratulate my neighbor, Kevin Van Oost, on his 10-year anniversary at Tomball High School. For those of you who buy lunch, I’m sure you know Kevin. He loves what he does, and it shows. Congratulations, Kevin!”
