CPJHS Student Emilio Fuentes Earns Trip to National Spanish Spelling Bee
TOMBALL - Tomball ISD and Creekside Park Junior High student Emilio Fuentes has earned a trip to the National Spanish Spelling Bee in El Paso, June 30 - July 1 after capturing a first place finish in the 6th-8th grade division of the Region 20 Spelling Bee held in San Antonio.
Tomball ISD was represented at the Region 20 Spelling Bee with two participants who earned a trip to this competition after capturing a win in their respective divisions (Elementary, Grades 3-5 and Secondary, Grades 6-8) at the TISD Spanish Spelling Bee held back in November.
Rosehill Elementary student Dylan Perez captured the top finish in the Tomball ISD Spanish Spelling Bee for Grades 3-5 and Fuentes (CPJHS) captured the top finish in the Spanish Spelling Bee, grades 6-8 to advance to the Regional Spelling Bee.
At the Region 20 competition, Perez advanced to the fourth round in his division (3-5) with Fuentes coming out as the winner. Fuentes’ winning word was “licopodíneo”.
Fuentes, an eighth grader, became the first-ever winner of a Regional Spanish Spelling Bee from Tomball ISD.
