Tomball ISD Finance Secures Two Prestigious TASBO Awards in 2025
TOMBALL - Tomball ISD is among an elite group of educational institutions recognized by the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) with two distinguished honors, the Award of Excellence in Financial Management and the Award Merit for Purchasing Operations, during the 2024-2025 school year.
“We are proud to have received the TASBO Award of Merit and the TASBO Award of Excellence which both reflect the district’s unwavering commitment to financial stewardship and transparency,” said Becky Parker-Felder, TISD Director of Finance. “These prestigious recognitions demonstrate our dedication to managing resources in a responsible, effective, and efficient manner, ensuring that we continue to serve our community with integrity and accountability.”
The Award of Excellence in Financial Management is awarded to Texas school districts that show professional standards, best practices, and innovations in financial management and reporting. Tomball ISD is just one of just 32 school districts to earn this honor.
Led by Zack Boles, Chief Financial Officer and Parker-Felder, the Tomball ISD Finance department must meet stringent qualifications, based on financial accounting and reporting guidelines identified by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) Financial Accountability System Resource Guide (FASRG) to be eligible for the award.
In addition to this award, TISD Finance secured its third straight Award of Merit for Purchasing Operations. Established in 2009, this honor recognizes Texas school districts that are committed to following professional standards in the acquisition of goods and services.
Each year, volunteers with the TASBO Purchasing and Supply Management Research Committee evaluate the award criteria to ensure it represents the latest best practices. They then review new and recertification applications. For 2025, Tomball ISD was one of just 80 recipients who met the criteria to qualify for the award. With 1,200 school districts in Texas, this was quite the honor.
Members of the Finance Department were recently honored with both awards at the annual TASBO Conference.
