Tomball ISD Earns Statewide Recognition for Financial Excellence and Purchasing Operations
2026 TASBO finance awards

TOMBALL - Tomball ISD has been recognized as part of an elite group of Texas school districts honored by the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) with two prestigious awards during the 2025-2026 school year — the Award of Excellence in Financial Management and the Award of Merit for Purchasing Operations.

“The Tomball ISD Finance Department is honored to once again be recognized with both the TASBO Award of Merit and the TASBO Award of Excellence.” said Becky Parker-Felder, TISD Director of Finance. “These distinctions highlight the district’s strong leadership and unwavering commitment to financial stewardship and transparency. Both awards validate our continued pursuit to be an example of financial excellence statewide through our dedication to diligence, efficiency, and purpose. They also serve as a meaningful reminder to our community of the district’s continued focus on accountability, integrity, and responsible stewardship of public resources.”

The TASBO Award of Excellence in Financial Management recognizes Texas school districts that demonstrate professional standards, innovative practices, and strong performance in financial management and reporting. Tomball ISD earns this honor for the second straight year, and is one of only 34 districts to earn this distinction.

Led by Chief Financial Officer Zack Boles and Parker-Felder, the Tomball ISD Finance Department met rigorous eligibility standards based on financial accounting and reporting guidelines established in the Texas Education Agency Financial Accountability System Resource Guide (FASRG).

In addition, the district earned its fourth consecutive TASBO Award of Merit for Purchasing Operations. Established in 2009, this award recognizes Texas school districts that demonstrate best practices and professional standards in the procurement of goods and services.

Each year, the TASBO Purchasing and Supply Management Research Committee evaluates applications to ensure award criteria reflect current industry best practices. In 2025, Tomball ISD was among just 84 recipients statewide to meet the rigorous requirements for this honor out of more than 1,200 school districts in Texas.

Members of the Tomball ISD Finance Department were recently recognized for both achievements at the annual TASBO Conference.
