Tammy Sebesta Named New Decker Prairie Elementary Principal
TOMBALL - Tomball ISD is excited to announce Tammy Sebesta as the next Principal of Decker Prairie Elementary.
“We are thrilled to announce Mrs. Tammy Sebesta as Principal of Decker Prairie Elementary,” said Dr. George Flores, Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Schools. “Mrs. Sebesta is an experienced school administrator who has consistently demonstrated strong leadership qualities aligned to Tomball ISD's Leadership Definition. Cultivating a positive school culture where all students and staff will thrive is at the core of Mrs. Sebesta's leadership style. Her strong background in Elementary Education makes her the perfect fit to continue the positive academic trajectory we see at Decker Prairie. We look forward to great things at Decker Prairie for years to come as Mrs. Sebesta makes this transition.”
Named the 2022-2023 Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA) Region 4 Assistant Principal of the Year, Mrs. Sebesta has dedicated over 25 years to education and 11 years in Tomball ISD.
She is no stranger to Decker Prairie, having spent the last three years as an Assistant Principal on that campus. Her administrative experience extends past DPES as she spent four years as an Assistant Principal at Wildwood Elementary. Mrs. Sebesta understands the role of both an administrator and a teacher after dedicating years to classroom teaching. She began her Tomball ISD journey at Tomball Elementary as a second grade teacher in 2013 and prior to that, taught in Arlington ISD from 1998-2013.
Mrs. Sebesta is a continuous learner who has dedicated countless hours to professional development, most recently as part of the N2 Learning Assistant Principal Cohort 2023-2024, bettering herself as a campus leader to ensure a premier and high-quality learning environment for all students on the campus she serves.
Mrs. Sebesta earned her Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Texas at Arlington and her Master of Education from Sam Houston State University.
What was intriguing about becoming the next campus leader at DPES?
“I cannot think of a better place to begin my principalship than the campus I absolutely love serving. The dedication of our entire staff, and our amazing students and parents are what makes this transition so exciting!”
What is it about education that you love so much?
“I love seeing students and teachers grow through risk-taking and goal setting. There is no better feeling than having an excited student or teacher come tell me about reaching a goal they have been working so hard to attain.”
What can the DPES school community expect of you as their leader?
“The community can expect an open-door policy, along with many opportunities to volunteer and support our staff and students. We absolutely love having our parents and community members on campus, and I look forward to continuing to grow those relationships as principal at DPES.”
