Gabriela Avellaneda Named New Rosehill Elementary Principal
TOMBALL - Tomball ISD is excited to announce Gabriela Avellaneda as the new Principal of Rosehill Elementary.
Avellaneda is a familiar face in the Rosehill community having served as an Assistant Principal at RES since 2021.
“We are thrilled to announce Gabriela Avellaneda as the new Principal of Rosehill Elementary,” said Dr. Martha Salazar-Zamora, Superintendent of Schools. “Since joining RES as an Assistant Principal, she has been able to establish positive relationships with students, staff, and families. The relationships she has built will help solidify a strong campus culture all while focusing on student success and growth. We are confident in her leadership experience and look forward to her leading RES as Principal!"
Prior to joining RES, Avellaneda spent the 2020-21 school year at Timber Creek Elementary first as a fifth grade ELA/social studies teacher before transitioning to the campus’ gifted & talented specialist in January 2021.
She brings to this campus leadership role nearly 15 years of experience in education. Before joining TISD, Avellaneda served as an Assistant Principal in Aldine ISD. Bringing experience both as a campus administrator and a classroom teacher, she began her career in education in 2009 as a 5th grade bilingual and ESL teacher, spent time as a 6th grade ESL, gifted & talented teacher before serving as an ELA/reading skills specialist and instructional coach all while in AISD.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and her Master of Education in Educational Administration both from Texas A&M University.
What made you want to remain at RES and become the new campus Principal?
“I have the privilege of serving the Rosehill community as an Assistant Principal for two years. I am dedicated to our students, staff, and families. I have witnessed first-hand the goals that our community has, and I have had the opportunity to be part of the work to reach those goals. As the new principal of Rosehill, I will continue the amazing work that was started and ensure that Rosehill Elementary continues to be a rising star in Tomball ISD.”
What is it about education that you love so much?
“What I love most about education is the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with students and staff to experience success. Success can be something as small as remembering to use complete sentences or as big as meeting academic goals. Every smile, celebration, and moment of pride is what makes education my passion.”
Why Tomball ISD and RES?
“I chose Tomball to raise my family because I knew that I would be part of an amazing community. Rosehill Elementary has been the icing on the cake. Tomball ISD guarantees a high-quality education with a family experience. I know that the district cares for me as an individual and is invested in my personal and professional success. The district leadership team truly has the best interest in mind for all students and the community. I am honored to have the privilege to live in and serve my community.”
What can this community expect from you as its new campus leader?
“As a new campus leader, the Rosehill community can expect to know me as a person and know the vision I have for our school. Our community will know Rosehill's traditions, expectations and values. Our community can expect to take a seat at the table and have a voice in the educational experience Rosehill provides for their children. Above all else, the Rosehill community will have consistency, communication, and provide a one-of-a-kind learning experience.”
