TOMBALL - Tomball ISD is excited to announce Erin Johnson as the next Principal of Grand Oaks Elementary. As the current Principal of Canyon Pointe Elementary, Mrs. Johnson will take over for Niesa Glenewinkel, who announced her retirement from education at the end of the school year.

Mrs. Johnson brings over 18 years of experience in education. She joined Tomball ISD as an Assistant Principal at Rosehill Elementary in 2020. After one year as a campus administrator in the District, she was named Principal of Canyon Pointe Elementary where she has served for the last three years.

"I am very excited for the Grand Oaks Elementary community with the announcement of Mrs. Johnson as Principal,” said Dr. George Flores, Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Schools. “Mrs. Johnson is a proven leader in Tomball ISD and as the West side of the District continues to grow, we know that Mrs. Johnson has the skill set necessary to manage a fast-growing school while fostering a strong culture of learning for all students and collegiality for all staff.”

Her educational background extends beyond the administrator lens, having served in a variety of roles since her start in education in 2006. She also brings experience as an instructional specialist, math teacher, and Special Ed Administrator.

Mrs. Johnson earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Vanguard University of Southern California in 2006 and her Master in Educational Leadership from Prairie View A&M University in 2009.

What is it about education that you love so much?
“It is an honor and privilege to be able to watch students grow and become a small part of their childhood. And the gleam in a student's eyes when they learn something new or achieve something they didn't think they could... it's just magical!”

What can the GOES community expect of you as their leader?
“At Grand Oaks Elementary, I will give 110% to this growing community, be strategic and innovative in my leadership, and lead from the heart. I promise to take good care of my dear friend, Mrs. Glenewinkel's school, and give the incredible staff my all!”

Thank you, Canyon Pointe Elementary community, from Mrs. Johnson.
“My Canyon Pointe Elementary family will always have a special place in my heart. Canyon Pointe has the very best teachers, students, and parents around! I can't thank you enough for how you've supported me over the past three years!”
