TOMBALL - Tomball ISD proudly announces that the Tomball ISD Elementary Honor Choir earns the highest recognition of any elementary choir in Texas after being selected as a Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Invited Ensemble to perform at the the 2026 TMEA Convention in San Antonio, the organization recently announced.

The prestigious honor is extended to only a select group of school ensembles across the state each year, recognizing the highest levels of musical excellence, artistry, and educational impact.

"We are incredibly proud of our Tomball ISD Elementary Honor Choir for being selected as a TMEA Invited Ensemble—an extraordinary honor and the highest recognition an elementary choir can receive in Texas,” said Paulette Torchia, Tomball ISD Director of Fine Arts. “This achievement is a celebration of our students’ talent, hard work, and passion, as well as the dedication of the amazing teachers who guide them.”

Under the direction of Director and Creekview Elementary music teacher Rachel Hamann, the Tomball ISD Honor Choir is made up of talented students representing all elementary and intermediate schools in TISD. This group has performed concerts for the community at Lone Star College and the District’s Fine Arts Festival as well as recently sang the National Anthem at a Houston Astros game.

Through a highly-competitive and blind audition process, their selection highlights the District’s continued commitment to fine arts education and the extraordinary talent nurtured within Tomball ISD.

“Elementary fine arts are not just the beginning of a student’s artistic journey—they are the foundation of a thriving district-wide program,” Torchia said. “The excellence we see at the secondary level is built on the skills, confidence, and creativity nurtured in these early years. This honor reminds us that when we invest in young artists, we are shaping the future of fine arts in Tomball ISD. Let’s take a moment to celebrate this milestone and the educators who make it possible."

The ensemble will perform for thousands of educators, administrators, and music professionals during the TMEA Convention in February 2026.
