Tomball ISD Earns TAEA District of Distinction Award for Third Straight Year

TOMBALL – Tomball ISD has once again earned the prestigious recognition from the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) as a 2026-2027 District of Distinction. 

Tomball ISD joins 126 other district winners on this annual list. The districts received the honor for providing a well-rounded education that advocates and integrates visual arts curriculum to inspire creativity and build social emotional learning that connect learners to their community and beyond.

TAEA is the leading advocate for the visual arts in the state. The organization has previously honored outstanding TAEA members for work in their classrooms and districts. This is the eighth year that TAEA is honoring districts that meet rigorous criteria as evidenced from data. Tomball ISD has now earned this honor three consecutive years.

"Winning the TAEA District of Distinction award for the third time belongs entirely to our incredible teachers and students,” said Paulette Torchia, Director of Fine Arts. “Our educators pour their hearts into inspiring creativity every day, and our students bring that vision to life through their extraordinary talent and hard work. I couldn't be prouder of how our fine arts family continues to raise the bar in Tomball ISD." 

Over 1,200 districts were eligible to apply for this Texas Art Education Association Visual Arts Award and one hundred nine districts will receive this outstanding honor for the 2025-2026 academic year. The Visual Art Administrators of Texas, a division of TAEA, recognizes districts with outstanding leadership in promoting the arts in their district and community. We want to recognize districts that are actively participating members in TAEA and beyond. Your visual arts program met or exceeded a rigorous 14-point rubric. The rubric examines the district's visual art program from participation in TAEA through membership, exhibitions, contests, and community engagement in the visual arts through field experiences, community service, and collaboration with other content areas. We were impressed and proud of your level of participation in visual art learning experiences at all grade levels.  

127 districts, including Tomball ISD will be honored at the TAEA District of Distinction Awards Ceremony during the TAEA Fall Conference on Friday, November 13, 2026 in Galveston.

ABOUT TAEA DISTRICT OF DISTINCTION AWARD
The Visual Art Administrators of Texas oversees the award program. The award honors school districts that are leading the way in the visual arts. The Visual Art Administrators of Texas, a division of TAEA, recognizes districts with outstanding leadership in promoting the arts in their district and community. TAEA wants to identify districts that are actively participating members in areas such as VASE, Junior VASE, and TEAM as a few examples. The organization also looks at field experiences, community service, and community exhibitions to name a few as part of the rigorous rubric for the award.
