TISD Student Artists Earn Best of Show, Gold Medal & Special Merit Honors at Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Art Show

TOMBALL — Tomball ISD student artists recently competed in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Art Program. Exemplifying excellence in their specific art, 13 students across six campuses earned Best of Show, Gold Medal, or Special Merit honors.

In addition to these awarded pieces, and in an effort to promote the district’s talented student artists, Tomball ISD recently hosted its annual Rodeo Art Show at the Tomball Event Center.

This Tomball ISD Rodeo Art Show featured right at 500 entries across all campuses, from grades K-12. The 13 art pieces that earned Best of Show, Gold Medal, and Special Merit honors are on display in Houston awaiting the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, but were featured digitally in Tomball ISD. 

Earning Best of Show honors (pictured in order below): 

  • Elementary: Kavya Sivakumar, Oakcrest Intermediate |  “Goldine”
  • Junior High: Vivian Nguyen, Grand Lakes Junior High | “All in a Day’s Work” 
  • High School: Gabrielle Nguyen, Tomball Memorial HS | “Through the August Mud”

 Earning Gold Medal honors (pictured in order below): 

  • Elementary: Santiago Martinez, Creekview Elementary | “Hidden Hop”
  • Junior High: Brady Sanchez, Creekside Park Junior High | “Golden”
  • High School: Lucy McBride, Tomball HS | “Pasture Raised Beef”
  • High School: Kaylie Perez, Tomball Memorial HS | “Old Man Duncan”

Earning Special Merit honors at the high school level (pictured in order below):

  • Katherine McDonald, Tomball HS | “Salado”
  • Isabella Rivera, Tomball Memorial HS | “Glory”
  • Fatima Carbaja, Tomball Memorial HS | “The Thoughts Behind those Eyes”
