Tomball ISD Principals Connect with Community through Principal Partners Initiative

Schools play a pivotal role in the social fabric of a community, and in Tomball ISD, schools are the center of engagement, learning, and support through a child’s educational experience. 

When schools have opportunities to connect closely with their communities, they create an environment that better supports student achievement and well-being.

Principals are exceptional leaders that are essential in driving this connection, as they set the tone and establish a much-needed bridge between the school and the families it serves. Tomball ISD Principals are exceptional in actively engaging their families and students in many ways throughout the year, and through one District initiative, they have the opportunity to connect with a community member that isn’t directly involved or connected to their specific campus. 

Through Principal Partners, community members who choose to participate:

• Increase awareness and understanding among individuals in the private sector of the strengths and challenges of schools in Tomball ISD
• Demonstrate the private sector's commitment to ensuring a quality education for all students
• Strengthen communication between the schools and the communities they serve

Tomball ISD hosted its annual Principal Partners Day at all campuses where each Principal Partner was paired with a campus leader and spent the morning in a specific school. Many of the Principal Partners had the opportunity to visit classrooms, tour the school, meet with student leaders, attend collaborative meetings and observe the innovative learning environment that Tomball ISD has created.

Following the morning in the schools, the Principal Partners joined Superintendent of Schools Dr. Martha Salazar-Zamora, campus leaders and the District Executive Team for a luncheon, which provided an opportunity for community members to share their experience inside the schools in which they served as a Principal Partner. 

The connection that is built and established through initiatives like Principal Partners not only strengthens Tomball ISD as a Destination District, but allows an avenue for continuous feedback for improvement and an opportunity for stakeholders to have a chance to learn and have a voice.
