Tomball ISD Launches Future Teacher Pipeline with Inaugural TAFE Cohort Induction Ceremony

Tomball ISD Launches Future Teacher Pipeline with Inaugural TAFE Cohort Induction Ceremony
TAFE Cohort

TOMBALL - Tomball ISD is proud to mark a historic milestone with the induction of its first-ever class of students into the Tomball Academy of Future Educators (TAFE) at Tomball West High School.

As part of this inaugural cohort, students are stepping into a one-of-a-kind program designed to prepare them for careers in education through a powerful blend of high school and college experiences. This pioneering group is not only beginning their own journey—they are helping build the future of education in Tomball ISD.

“The launch of TAFE and the opportunity to welcome our first class of future educators is an incredibly exciting moment for Tomball ISD,” said Superintendent Dr. Martha Salazar-Zamora. “These students are answering the call to make a difference, and through this program, we are able to support them every step of the way as they pursue a career that has the power to shape lives and strengthen our community.”

The Tomball Academy for Future Educators (TAFE) provides a seamless, debt-free path to a teaching career. In partnership with Lone Star College-Tomball, students graduate from Tomball West High School with a high school diploma and Associate degree already in hand.

Powered by the Houston Endowment and the 89th Legislature’s House Bill (HB) 2 PREP allotment, graduates are then eligible to immediately enter paid apprenticeships within Tomball ISD, advancing to paid residencies in their second year. With full tuition reimbursement for their Bachelor’s degree and dedicated faculty mentoring, TAFE graduates can launch their professional teaching careers in Tomball ISD with zero debt and little to no out-of-pocket expenses.

Beyond academics, students will also gain meaningful, real-world experience through classroom observations, internships, and work-based learning opportunities within Tomball ISD, preparing them to step confidently into the classroom as future educators.

Tomball ISD looks forward to supporting and celebrating this inaugural class as they lead the way for future generations of educators.

Spots are still available for current 8th graders (Class of 2030) who are interested in TAFE.
