480 Tomball ISD Teachers Earn Designation through Teacher Incentive Allotment Resulting in Significant Salary Increase
TIA

TOMBALL - Tomball ISD announced that 480 of its eligible teachers, representing all eligible campuses, have earned, or are currently designated through the state’s Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA), which will award these well-deserving educators a significant salary increase over a 5-year timeframe from the date of their most recent designation.

TIA recognizes effective teachers on three designations, “Master”, “Exemplary” or “Recognized.” The designations are based on student growth and classroom observations or National Board Certification.

“We are extremely proud to once again have received data validation through Teacher Incentive Allotment, which will ensure our classroom teachers are rewarded for their extraordinary work as educators in Tomball ISD,” said Dr. Martha Salazar-Zamora, TISD Superintendent of Schools. “These commendable teachers are champions in the classroom, resulting in academic achievement and positive student outcomes. To have 480 teachers having received or currently receiving a designation is a positive reflection of the work being done every day in Tomball ISD.”

Any Tomball ISD teacher in an eligible group can be put forth for a designation, which is then decided according to the qualification framework. As part of Tomball ISD’s designation system, eligible groups include: Pre-K through 8th grade reading and math teachers, 5th and 8th grade science teachers, 8th grade social studies teachers, Algebra I, English I, English II, Biology, U.S. History teachers, specific courses and program areas for CTE and Special education teachers and any teacher who is National Board Certified.

Tomball ISD celebrates 130 “Master” teachers, 273 “Exemplary” teachers and 77 “Recognized” teachers.

Tomball ISD has notified its designated teachers that the reward also comes with an additional salary compensation estimated somewhere between $3,000 and $17,000 over the timeframe of their designation as long as they continue to meet requirements of TIA.

ABOUT THE TEACHER INCENTIVE ALLOTMENT (TIA)
The Teacher Incentive Allotment was created by the Texas Legislature as part of House Bill 3 to provide state-funded incentives to help school districts recruit, retain, and reward highly-qualified classroom teachers without using local district funding. This Bill authorized school districts to create TIA local designation systems that, once developed, are approved by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), and put through a data validation process by a third party, Texas Tech University.
