Tomball ISD Cheer Teams Earn National Podium Finishes; TMHS & THS JV Capture National Title, THS Varsity Takes 3rd

TOMBALL — Tomball ISD Cheerleading Teams delivered an extraordinary showing at the 2026 UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship in Florida, earning multiple national podium finishes and championships against the top cheer programs in the country.

The spotlight shone on the Tomball Memorial High School Varsity cheer team, who captured 1st place, earning the National Championship in the highly competitive Division I Varsity Coed Non-Tumbling Gameday division. 

TMHS Cheer National Champs

TMHS cheer coach Sarah Ellison reflected on the team’s resilience:

"When it mattered most, they stepped on that mat and put on the greatest show. This team chose resilience over disappointment, unity over doubt, and growth over fear—and I couldn’t be prouder of the heart and fight they showed every step of the way."

In the same elite division, the Tomball High School Varsity cheer team earned an impressive 3rd place finish, standing on the national podium among the top teams in the country. 

3rd at Nationals - THS

THS cheer coach Steven Weibel shared:

"Finishing third at Nationals represents relentless work, belief in each other, and the courage to rise under pressure on the biggest stage. I could not be prouder of who this team was all season long."

Final Results & Scores

  1. Tomball Memorial High School – 94.9 (National Champions)
  2. Cherry Creek High School – 93.2
  3. Tomball High School – 93.1

These scores reflect the raw event score after deductions (none for TMHS or THS), showing just how tightly contested the top placements were — with Tomball Memorial edging out the field by 1.7 points and Tomball High finishing third by just .1 point behind the runner-up. TMHS' score of 94.9 was the highest of any varsity game day score regardless of division.


Adding to the historic weekend, the Tomball High School JV Non-Tumbling cheer team captured a National Championship, marking the first national title in school history.

"This win speaks volumes about the depth of our program. They didn’t just make history—they set a new standard for what is possible."

These accomplishments reflect the dedication, discipline, and unity of Tomball ISD student-athletes and coaches and mark an unforgettable national performance for the district.
