Tomball ISD Students Earn 375 District AP Scholar Awards by College Board
TOMBALL - Tomball ISD students continue to excel at high levels as 357 TISD high school students achieved impressive recognition as a District AP Scholar following the 2019-2020 school year, accounting for 375 awards district-wide, according to the College Board.
The AP Program recognizes high school students who have demonstrated outstanding college-level achievement through AP courses and exams with the AP Scholar Awards. Although there is no monetary award, each award-winning student receives a certificate, and the award is acknowledged on any AP score report that is sent to colleges after the award has been conferred.
“Tomball ISD offers Advanced Placement courses to high school students who are ready to engage in college level course content and rigorous academics,” Dr. Caitlin Cain, Director of Advanced Academics said. “The AP Program offers college level instruction to the academically-successful student and provides the opportunity for the students to earn college credit by taking the Advanced Placement examination at the end of the school year.”
Collectively across Tomball High School, Tomball Memorial High School and Tomball Star Academy, students achieved 375 recognitions.
- National AP Scholars: 17 (average score of 4 or higher on all AP exams and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more exams)
- AP Scholars with Distinction: 104 (average score of 3.5 on all exams and scores of 3 or higher on five exams)

“We are very proud of our students and teachers for all of their hard work to prepare for the exams that took place at the end of the 2019-2020 school year and for the continuous success and growth we are seeing in our Advanced Placement scores throughout Tomball ISD,” said Cain.
