Tomball ISD Earns “A” Rating as TEA Releases Delayed 2023 Accountability Ratings
TOMBALL - Tomball ISD earns an “A” rating following the release of the 2023 delayed accountability ratings by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). The District remains focused on its mission of providing a high-quality education and preparing students for future success.
TEA’s A-F accountability system assigns overall ratings to districts and campuses based on various factors, including student achievement, student progress, closing performance gaps, and college, career, and military readiness. These domains are used to calculate an overall rating of A, B, C, or F.
The TEA has cited ongoing litigation as the reason for the delayed release of the 2023 accountability ratings. While the specific details of the review process are still unfolding, Tomball ISD understands the importance of ensuring accuracy and validity in the accountability system.
Furthermore, 76% of TISD campuses received one or more designations. Designations are distinctions awarded to campuses for outstanding achievement in specific areas, such as:
- Academic Achievement in English Language Arts/Reading
- Academic Achievement in Mathematics
- Academic Achievement in Science
- Academic Achievement in Social Studies
- Top 25 Percent Student Progress
- Top 25 Percent Closing Performance Gaps
- Postsecondary Readiness
Tomball ISD Superintendent, Dr. Martha Salazar-Zamora, expressed her gratitude, stating,
“This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our teachers, campus administrators, and students. We also extend our sincere appreciation to our parents for their continued support and partnership. This collective accomplishment reflects our shared commitment to providing an exceptional educational experience for every child in Tomball ISD.”
The District will continue to monitor the TEA's updates and provide further information as it becomes available in regards to the release of 2024 accountability results.
