Tomball ISD Destination Imagination (DI) Teams Advance to State

TOMBALL - Tomball ISD was well-represented as 23 district teams competed at the 2020 Regional Destination Imagination (DI) tournament. Of the 23, five TISD teams advance to the Lone Star Finals State tournament on April 3-4 at UT-Arlington. 

Destination Imagination (DI) is a global educational nonprofit dedicated to inspiring the next generation of innovators, leaders and creative problem solvers. The STEAM-based Challenges are open-ended and enable students to learn and experience the creative process while fostering their creativity, curiosity and courage.

DI teams from across Tomball ISD competed in the Technical Challenge, Scientific Challenge, Fine Arts Challenge, Improv Challenge, Engineering and Project Outreach.

Five DI teams earned first or second place in their respective category to advance to the Lone Star Finals.

• 1st Place: Creekview Elementary (Technical Challenge) | Team Manager: Stephanie Scott
• 1st Place: Tomball Intermediate (Scientific Challenge) | Team Manager: Laurie Powell
• 2nd Place: Creekside Forest Elementary (Scientific Challenge) | Team Manager: Shelley Sheffield
• 1st Place: Creekview Elementary (Engineering-EL) | Team Manager: Meredith Holmes
• 1st Place: Oakcrest Intermediate (Engineering-ML) | Team Manager: Tori Cates

All five of these teams will compete April 3-4 at UT-Arlington in the Lone Star Finals. Each team will compete against 25-30 teams at their level to earn a chance to advance to the Global Finals. The Top 4-6 teams will move on to Globals, depending on the Challenge. Globals will take place in Kansas City, MO in late May.
