TOMBALL - Tomball ISD celebrated campus Spanish Spelling Champions at the annual District Spanish Spelling Bee Competition, hosted at the Tomball Event Center.

Campus Champions - Spanish Spelling Bee, Grades 4-5

Representing Tomball ISD as Grades 4-5 Tomball ISD Spanish Spelling Bee are winners:

  • Elena Vargas Almodovar - Northpointe Intermediate
  • Avril Romero Dominguez - Canyon Pointe Elementary

These three advanced through 29 rounds of competition.

All three winners earned the right to advance to the 2nd Annual Regional Competition, hosted by the Region 4 Education Service Center in Houston on February 4, 2026. Regional winners will have a chance to compete at the Texas State Spelling Bee.

Representing Tomball ISD as Grades 6-8 Spanish Spelling Bee winners:

  • 1st: Claudia Garcia de Albizu Ibanez (Creekside Park Junior High)
  • 2nd: Camila Yanez Orozco (Willow Wood Junior High)
  • 3rd:  Sydney Barnett (West Intermediate)

Claudia Garcia de Albizu captured first place in round 8 by spelling the word ‘tembloroso’ correctly. 

For their efforts in placing among the Top 3, all three have earned the right to advance to the 2nd Annual Regional Competition, hosted by the Region 4 Education Service Center in Houston on February 4, 2026. Regional winners will have a chance to compete at the Texas State Spelling Bee.
