TOMBALL -  Creekside Park Junior High eighth grader Ishika Varipilli, has once again secured her spot for the third straight year in the 2024 Scripps National Spelling Bee, after winning The 2024 Regional Spelling Bee, hosted by Houston Community College.

Varipilli represented Tomball ISD in this year’s regional event following her win at the District Spelling Bee competition back in November, held at the Tomball Event Center. Varipilli has represented Tomball ISD at the 2023 Scripps Regional Spelling Bee, hosted by Houston Community College (previously Houston Public Media Spelling Bee) five straight years and earns her third straight trip to the National Spelling Bee after capturing first place.

In order to capture first place, her winning word was: “scrannel”. During the Scripps Regional Spelling Bee, Varipilli competed in eight rounds against 79 contestants.

With another win, Varipilli’s Spelling Bee journey will continue with an all-expenses paid trip to the Washington DC area to compete in the coveted, nationally-televised Scripps National Spelling Bee in National Harbor, Maryland, in late May.
