TISD Communications Wins 24 TSPRA Star Awards

Tomball ISD Communications was honored as the best in the State of Texas with three Best of Category Awards, a Crystal Commendation Certificate of Merit, 12 Gold Star honors, five Silver Star honors, and three Bronze Star honors at the Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) annual conference in Sugar Land.

The TISD Communications Team represented at TSPRA was Director of Communications and Marketing Allison Suarez and Director of Digital Communications Justin Warnasch.

TSPRA members from across Texas were honored by the association for their outstanding work in education communications. The awards were announced at TSPRA’s annual Star Awards Celebration held February 29 in Sugar Land.

Tomball ISD was up against 193 entries within its division, across 19 categories it participated in. The team captured 24 awards, specifically 3 Best of Category Awards, a Crystal Commendation Certificate of Merit, 12 Gold Star honors, five Silver Star honors, and three Bronze Star honors:

In the last five years (since 2018), Tomball ISD Communications has earned two Crystal Commendation Certificates of Merit, 13 Best of Category Awards, 64 Gold Star Awards, 25 Silver Star Awards, and 10 Bronze Star Awards.

Each year, TSPRA recognizes communicators in school districts, education foundations, education associations and organizations for their work in print and electronic media categories. There are 47 main categories covering various media such as newsletters, programs, posters, reports, writing, image/identity packages, photography, graphics, video, electronic presentations, mobile apps, campaigns, events and web sites. 

For the first 47 categories, the entries are divided into three divisions based on the number of students the district, foundation or organizations serves - under 15,000 students; 15,000 to 40,000 students; and over 40,000 students. Independent judges evaluate and score each entry based on its own merit. Bronze, Silver and Gold Stars are awarded based on set criteria. Finally, the judges review their highest scoring Gold Star winners and select a Best of Category for each division in each of the 47 categories.
