FGF - Community Service Holiday

Tomball ISD campus leaders and teachers continue to empower students to know the impact they can have on others, and as the holiday season approaches, meaningful moments have been captured as students and staff show their support for their local community through toy drives, angel trees, and being a part of local charities and events.

Every year, Tomball ISD schools show up big, and in 2023, the investment they have made in their local community has been immense and meaningful.

So many efforts have been made by students across Tomball ISD this holiday season to support other families in need. A few campuses were able to share their efforts.

Tomball Intermediate School created an Angel Tree to support children of TIS families in need. This campus also utilized community connections and partnered with a business to provide holiday meals for families in need.

Oakcrest Intermediate partnered with TEAMS to help lead a food drive, which has led to a grade-level competition. Student leaders on campus also have initiated an effort to spread holiday cheer through song and dance during the car rider line.

Creekside Park Junior High students continued their Adopt-a-Path program in order to help beautify their community and maximize their leadership efforts outside of school.

Creekside Forest Elementary students serve as Holiday Helpers to collect items to support three local families in need. The campus also joined the inspiring efforts of the Hayley Rasco Foundation, collecting twin sheet sets, new toys, and new books to deliver to kids in children’s hospitals. They have also continued the CFES Cares initiative by having grade-level service projects.

Grand Lakes Junior High and Willow Wood Junior High LOTC Cadets are not only learning to become confident and strong leaders, but learning the importance of giving back and serving their community on many levels through hands-on experiences. This group participated in the Tomball Holiday Parade, earning ‘Best Marching Unit’ for the second year in a row. They also served a local neighborhood’s Breakfast for Santa event, assisting with crafts, snacks, and helping families navigate the event. GLJHS LOTC also collaborated with their Student Council to implement a Toys for Toys program.

Tomball High School Spanish Honor Society has initiated a Toy Drive to support the kids at Early Excellence Academy.

Grand Oaks Elementary students were eager to support families in need within their campus community by participating in a Toy Drive. This Toy Drive then led to a Toy Market for families in need, all supported by parent volunteers. These volunteers were  instrumental in promoting, set up the toy market, and then met the families at their shop time to walk them through the market. They even faced-timed the families that could not physically come in, and dropped off their gifts at their house. A true representation of a community-wide effort.

The Tomball ISD Law Enforcement students participated in the 23rd annual Holiday Heroes event, sponsored by the Tomball Police Department. Students volunteered to help at-risk and underprivileged children during the holidays by teaming up with local First Responders to provide breakfast, then rode in an emergency vehicle convoy to Walmart where students and First Respond Heroes went on a one-on-one shopping spree for Christmas with the children. The selected child, First Responder, and the students met Santa Claus and took pictures as well.

Tomball ISD is fortunate to have more inspiring stories that campuses are creating through a love and passion for the families in which they serve. The holidays do bring out the best in everyone, but know that Tomball ISD schools are doing magical work each and every day.
