In Career and Technical Education, our goal is to prepare students for the real world in a real way. We must ensure that we are teaching students skills and knowledge that they will need in the industry rather than in a classroom. To do this, we incorporate Advisory Boards for our various program areas. These will be comprised of community members and professionals in career fields related to that of the program. These individuals will volunteer their time to observe what TISD CTE teachers are doing and to offer their expertise. They may make recommendations on knowledge, skills or equipment that is evolving in the workplace. They may serve as guest speakers in our classrooms or they may even provide job shadowing or internship opportunities!
There is no financial obligation to sit on one of these Advisory Boards. We ask that members come together once a semester (twice a year) to discuss and make recommendations.
If you are interested in sitting on one of these boards, please reach out to Director of CTE, Karla Sandoval at either firstname.lastname@example.org or (281) 357-3100.
