English Language Arts

Tomball ISD offers a comprehensive language arts program for all students from kindergarten through Grade 12. Based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, the language arts program is organized around seven strands that recursively address listening, speaking, reading, writing, and thinking. Each strand is an integral part of a complete and comprehensive K-12 language arts program.

Tomball ISD Literacy Philosophy
We believe that literacy is a critical skill central to learning—in school, in the workplace, and in everyday life. While there are many ways to teach literacy, we believe in the integration of authentic reading and writing where literacy instruction focuses on teaching each student rather than teaching a specific reading program.
