Secondary Summer School Policies & Procedures
The Tomball ISD secondary summer school program is designed to provide an opportunity for students to repeat a course failed or to take courses for original credit. Students may take one semester of one course per session for original credit (1/2 credit) and earn a maximum of one high school credit. A student may earn two repeat junior high credits during summer school.
Who May Attend
Students enrolled in grades 7-8 during the 2009-2010 school year may attend.
Curriculum
Core courses, grades 7-8 will be offered for make-up credit.
Courses will be offered for original credit providing the minimum number of students (15) enroll in the course:
Transportation
Transportation is NOT provided for secondary summer school.
Dates of Classes and Daily Schedule
Session I June 21 – July 9 (7:30 AM-12:30 PM) July 3 holiday
Session II July 13 – July 30 (7:30 AM-12: 30 PM)
Registration and Tuition
(NO REFUNDS WILL BE MADE AFTER THE SESSION BEGINS)
Tuition must be paid with a check or money order only when you register unless prior arrangement has been made with the administration.
$150.00 per session for students currently enrolled in TISD schools
$300.00 per session for all other students
Early registration for high school level courses will be conducted through the THS counseling office beginning May 3rd.
Regular Registration (Both Sessions) at THS June 16, 17 8-11 A.M.
NOTE: Junior high students needing to repeat courses will receive a letter from the school at the end of the school year stating what they need to take. All students must bring this letter to registration in order to register for summer school. Junior High students wanting to take an original high school credit to get ahead need to get a registration form and counselor approval from THS beginning May 3rd.
Student Behavioral Expectations
1. Attendance: In order to receive credit, a student must be in attendance 13 of the 14 days each session. Two (2) tardies are equal to one (1) absence. Students arriving after 8:00 a.m. will be considered absent for the day.
2. Dress Code: Students are expected to comply with the TISD dress code guidelines as published in the TISD Secondary Student/Parent Handbook.
3. Discipline: Rules governing student conduct are as identified in the TISD student handbook. Severe student misconduct will result in removal of the student for the balance of the session with forfeiture of fees.

Course Offerings
Courses will be offered only during the session(s) indicated and only
if a sufficient number of students (15) enroll in the class. Students will be notified as early as possible in the event that a course is cancelled. Courses may be combined in order for classes to make. Classes also may be closed once a maximum student cap is reached.
