Lisa Nicholas was appointed to the Board of Trustees in May 2004. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Brigham Young University in 1989. While attending BYU she met her husband, Ken. They married in 1987 and have 5 children and 3 grandchildren. Their oldest began as a kindergarten student at Lakewood Elementary with the next four following in his footsteps. The Nicholas' are now the parents of 3 Tomball High School graduates and 1 Tomball Memorial High School graduate and are appreciative of the education their children have and are receiving in Tomball ISD.
Lisa was actively involved within the district prior to her appointment to the Board of Trustees. She served for 7 years on TISD's Gifted and Talented (GT) Parent Advisory Council as well as the district's GT Steering Committee. She also served as chairman of the 2004 GT Kids' Conference. In April 2004, she was named Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented (TAGT) Region IV, as well as the State of Texas Parent of the Year. In 2005 she was invited to join the Commissioner of Educations Advisory Council on the Education of Gifted/Talented and Advanced Students. Because of her children's involvement, she has hands on experience in many other extracurricular activities offered in the district such as athletics, art, band, choir, peer mediation, Destination Imagination,T.A.F.E and math/science teams. She recently participated in Leadership Texas Association of School Boards and became a Master Trustee.
Lisa and her family are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has lived in the Tomball school district since moving from Utah to Texas in 1989.
